Bloganuary #25 – Strength Within

What makes me feel strong?

I started out answering this question with a completely different response but somehow it just didn’t feel right and I couldn’t find the right words. It was then I realized, I had the wrong answer. I’m strong today simply because of the Lord God Almighty himself and my faith in him.

It was a little disheartening to me, that this wasn’t the first answer that popped into my mind initially, but hey, I’m still a work in progress. I must admit that too often I don’t give him credit or even thanks enough for the things he has done and is continuing to do in my life. I’m a better person today because of my faith and I derive a certain amount of comfort each day, knowing I’m doing my best to live my life in a way that’s consistent with the teachings of the Christian faith.

I’m better and stronger today because of the things I have been through. I have gotten through them not because of anything I have done or did not do. I’m here today simply because the Lord brought me through and hopefully the work he has been doing in me and the strength I have found through him, is evident in whatever I do and to whomever I chance to meet.

The quote below from the bible has become a favorite of mine: James 1: 2

“Consider it pure joy my brothers and sisters when you face trials of many kinds, because you know the testing of your faith produces perseverance.”

Perseverance takes strength, and my strength comes the Lord himself. So, there it is, in a nutshell…now tell me, does he make you feel strong today?
