Easter Orchids

April 16th is National Orchid Day, created as a remembrance of beautiful lives lost.

Fun Facts: Orchids first appeared almost 200 million years ago and are one of the two largest families of flowering plants. The ancient Greeks believed certain orchids to be aphrodisiacs associated with virility and male fertility. They encouraged their women to eat the flowers of the orchid so they would bear male off springs to carry on family traditions.

Orchids are my favorite flowers; below are a few pictures I’ve captured over the past few months.

Have a Happy Easter…Sincerely Jan!
